United Parcel Service (UPS) is gearing up to reinforce its sizable cargo airline fleet by incorporating two more second-hand Boeing 747-8F aircraft in 2024. This move is a part of UPS’s strategic plan to augment its extensive fleet, which presently includes 292 aircraft, featuring 28 Boeing 747-8Fs.

These forthcoming acquisitions are detailed in UPS’s annual report submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The report outlines UPS’s future fleet commitments, highlighting the scheduled delivery of “seven new and used Boeing 767-300 aircraft in 2023, 21 new Boeing 767-300 aircraft between 2024 and 2026, and two used Boeing 747-8F aircraft in 2024.”

As the largest operator of the Boeing 747-8F model, UPS had previously ordered 14 of these aircraft, with options for an additional 14, in a transaction estimated at around $5.2 billion. With the production of the Boeing 747 concluding on January 31, 2023, these latest additions are likely to serve as modern replacements for UPS’s ageing MD-11F fleet.

This expansion underscores UPS’s commitment to maintaining a leading position in the cargo airline industry, leveraging advanced aircraft technology to enhance its global logistics capabilities.
