Retired Boeing 737 Transformed into Luxurious Private Villa Overlooking Beach in Bali

Retired planes are finding new life in various creative ways, from restaurants to hotel rooms. One of the most captivating transformations is the renovation of a Boeing 737 into a luxurious private villa called the Private Jet Villa by Hanging Gardens. Located in Bali, Indonesia, this exquisite villa offers aviation enthusiasts and travelers the opportunity to experience their island dreams in a truly unique way.

The visionary behind the project is Felix Demin, the developer and owner of Private Jet Villa and Bubble Hotels, a collection of luxurious accommodations that allow guests to sleep under the stars in comfort. Demin’s idea for the Private Jet Villa came to fruition in 2021 when he and his girlfriend set out to find a retired plane to convert into a villa. They discovered a Boeing 737 previously owned by Mandala Airlines, which inspired Demin to transform it into a one-of-a-kind villa.

The logistics of transporting the 30-ton aircraft to its cliffside location in Bali were challenging. The process required meticulous planning and took five days to complete. Demin’s team had to navigate narrow streets, cut electrical wires, and disassemble the aircraft according to factory standards. Considering Bali’s location along a major fault line, a secure foundation was designed to ensure the plane’s safety on the seaside cliff.

The interiors of the Private Jet Villa are as stunning as its location. Light and neutral colors were used to create a sense of space, while brass and metal accents add an opulent touch. Geometrium, the interior design firm behind the project, faced the challenge of working with the aircraft’s rounded fuselage. They ordered high-quality replicas of Italian furniture from China and customized the pieces to fit the unique shape of the fuselage. Air conditioning was strategically installed underneath the plane to maintain the aesthetic while providing comfort to guests.

The villa features two bedrooms, a bathroom located in the former cockpit with a stone tub overlooking the ocean, and a kitchen, dining area, and living room in the transformed business class cabin. The wings of the aircraft have been converted into terraces next to an infinity pool, and a garden surrounds the plane, offering a serene outdoor space. The Private Jet Villa has become a popular location for video and photography shoots, attracting influencers from around the world.

Officially opened in March 2023, the Private Jet Villa offers a truly unique and luxurious experience. With rates starting at around $7,300 per night, guests can enjoy the breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean and indulge in the extraordinary atmosphere created within this retired Boeing 737 turned private villa.
