IHG Introduces Apple AirPlay for Enhanced In-Room Entertainment Across North American Hotels

IHG Hotels & Resorts has elevated the guest experience by integrating Apple AirPlay into the in-room entertainment offerings across its North American properties. This rollout marks the first phase of a significant update, making IHG the first hospitality company to provide AirPlay as a standard amenity.

Currently, more than 60 IHG locations, including the InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta, Hotel Indigo NYC Downtown – Wall Street, and Holiday Inn & Suites Ottawa Kanata, offer guests the capability to stream content directly from their iPads or iPhones to the in-room television.

To access this feature, guests simply scan a QR code, connect to the hotel’s Wi-Fi, and can immediately enjoy their personal media on a larger screen. Notably, each QR code is unique to each room to ensure privacy and that content streams securely to the designated TV only.

Jolie Fleming, Chief Product & Technology Officer at IHG Hotels & Resorts, emphasized the importance of home-like comforts for travelers. “When people travel, they often miss their home entertainment options. With the introduction of AirPlay, guests can now enjoy their favorite shows, continue watching movies they’ve started, or engage in other streaming activities like listening to music, viewing photos, or gaming,” Fleming stated.

Apple also celebrated the partnership, highlighting that the feature would be available in various IHG brands, including Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, Hotel Indigo, Candlewood Suites, and InterContinental Hotels & Resorts. This enhancement allows guests to utilize their devices for diverse activities such as listening to Apple Music, showcasing vacation photos, practicing presentations, or playing games on Apple Arcade.

This innovation in guest entertainment options follows IHG’s recent announcement of a collaboration with Google Cloud to introduce a generative AI-powered vacation planning tool in the IHG One Rewards mobile app, further underscoring IHG’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance the guest experience.
