The Graycliff Hotel and Restaurant, a renowned establishment in The Bahamas, has been honored with the British Blue Plaque, marking the first time this accolade has been awarded outside of the United Kingdom. This prestigious recognition was presented on April 9 by Thomas Hartley, British High Commissioner to The Bahamas, to owners AnnaMaria and Enrico Garzaroli.

The British Blue Plaque is a symbol of exceptional standards, recognizing establishments that significantly stand out in their field. This award specifically acknowledges the Graycliff for its “outstanding contributions to promoting English wines and spirits in The Bahamas,” highlighting its role in enhancing the appreciation for British beverages in the region.

During the award ceremony, Commissioner Hartley praised Graycliff’s efforts in promoting British spirits and English wines, stating, “We are celebrating Graycliff for their promotion of the finest British spirits and English wines. Congratulations to Enrico, Annamaria, and the whole Graycliff team.”

Graycliff is noted for maintaining one of the world’s largest wine cellars, featuring a collection that includes rare British gins and Scotch whisky, along with two award-winning English sparkling wines recently added to its inventory.

Enrico Garzaroli expressed his gratitude and commitment to excellence, saying, “At Graycliff, we believe in exceeding expectations and embracing innovation. Receiving the British Blue Plaque from the British High Commission underscores our role as pioneers in showcasing the finest British wines and spirits in The Bahamas.” He also thanked the dedicated staff of Graycliff for their passion and expertise, which continue to elevate the establishment’s standards and create memorable experiences for its patrons.

This recognition not only celebrates the historic and cultural ties between The Bahamas and the United Kingdom but also solidifies Graycliff’s status as a leader in the luxury hospitality and gastronomy sector.
