Etihad Cargo, the cargo and logistics arm of Etihad Airways, has entered into a strategic three-year partnership with Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), a leading global provider of airport ground services and cargo handling. This collaboration will enhance cargo handling services across 12 key international airports spanning Europe, Scandinavia, North America, India, and the Asia Pacific regions.

Annually, WFS is set to manage over 150,000 tonnes of cargo for Etihad Cargo. The agreement encompasses several major airports in the EMEAA region, including Amsterdam, Bangkok, Barcelona, Bengaluru, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, London Heathrow, Madrid, and Paris CDG. Additionally, the partnership extends to North America, covering WFS’s existing operations for Etihad at New York JFK and Washington Dulles, while introducing services at Boston and Chicago airports.

This partnership marks a significant expansion of the relationship between Etihad Cargo and WFS, which commenced with their inaugural cargo handling contract in Frankfurt in 2005.

Thomas Schürmann, Head of Cargo Operations & Delivery at Etihad Cargo, commented on the agreement, highlighting the synergy between the two companies: “Our enduring partnership with WFS and the inclusion of new stations underscore our joint commitment to offering premier global air cargo solutions. The combination of Etihad Cargo’s proficiency in handling both general and specialized cargo, along with WFS’s operational capabilities, ensures our partners and customers receive exemplary service worldwide.”

Mohammed Esa, Global Head of Gateway Services Key Accounts & Strategy at SATS Group, expressed gratitude towards Etihad Cargo for the extended partnership. He emphasized the importance of the addition of strategic airport stations such as Amsterdam, Bengaluru, Barcelona, Boston, Copenhagen, and Chicago, to their collaborative efforts. Esa noted, “Etihad Cargo’s confidence in our ability to maintain high service levels reinforces WFS’s capacity to deliver comprehensive global network solutions to our valued customers.”

This agreement represents a significant step forward in providing efficient and reliable cargo handling services at critical cargo hubs globally, reflecting both Etihad Cargo’s and WFS’s commitment to excellence in air freight logistics.
