Air Algérie has enhanced its operational capacity for Summer 2024 by securing a wet-lease agreement for an Airbus A320-200 from Fly2Sky. The aircraft, registered LZ-FSA (msn 4247), was transferred from Sofia to Algiers on April 15, 2024, and commenced flights for the Algerian flag carrier the following day.

This seasonal lease allows Air Algérie to expand its service offerings, with the aircraft initially deployed on routes to Tamanrasset and Istanbul Airport. The airline has scheduled the A320 for further routes, including flights to Djanet and Ghardaia, with the current schedule extending through the end of April 2024. The lease agreement is set to continue until the end of October 2024.

Air Algérie’s existing narrowbody passenger fleet includes five Boeing 737-600s and twenty-four Boeing 737-800s, according to the ch-aviation fleets module. Additionally, the airline’s fleet includes twelve ATR72-500s, three ATR72-600s, two Boeing 737-700(C)s, one Boeing 737-800(BCF), and eight A330-200s. Notably, Air Algérie also wet-leases another A330-200 from Hi Fly Malta.

Looking ahead, Air Algérie is planning significant updates to its fleet. The carrier has placed orders for modern aircraft including eight Boeing 737-9s, five Airbus A330-900s, and two Airbus A350-900s as part of its fleet renewal strategy. This summer’s A320 wet-lease is part of Air Algérie’s broader initiative to ensure robust service and operational efficiency during the peak travel season.
