Uncertainty Persists Over Certification of Nigerian Carrier NG Eagle

The certification status of Nigerian startup NG Eagle remains clouded in uncertainty, as conflicting reports emerge regarding the extension of its air operator’s certificate (AOC) for six months from September 20. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has yet to confirm or deny the reports, leaving the fate of NG Eagle’s certification unresolved. Originally conceived as a project by state-owned Asset Management Corporation (AMCON) to absorb Arik Air’s assets and alleviate its substantial debt, NG Eagle’s certification process has faced political and financial challenges, including a suspension ordered by the Nigerian Senate Standing Committee on Aviation in October 2021. Despite recent ownership changes, questions persist over the startup’s regulatory approval.
